Hermann von der Recke (* August 4, 1647 , † October 16, 1702 ) was officiator in Werne.

Life

Origin and family

As the son of the married couple Johann von der Recke (1611–1666) and Mechtild Judith von Galen zu Ermelinghof (1616–1691), who converted from Protestant to Catholicism before his birth , Hermann grew up with his siblings Wilhelm († 1675, Canon in Minden ), Johann Dietrich (∞ Sophia Elisabeth von Ascheberg zu Venne), Matthias Friedrich ( Domdechant in Münster) and Johanna Paulina (∞ Johann Detmar von Ascheberg (Amtsdroste in Werne)) in the ancient Westphalian noble family von Steinfurt .

Career and work

After attending grammar school in Paderborn , Hermann studied at the Collegium Germanicum in Rome from 1665 to 1669 . In 1667 he received a Dompräbende in Münster and on June 15, 1669 he was ordained a sub-deacon. He received further cathedral praisees in 1675 at Hildesheim Cathedral and in 1676 in Paderborn . On June 17, 1687 he was appointed court and government councilor. When he took over the function of official in Lüdinghausen on July 12, 1689, he took over the post of Drosten in Werne from his brother Johann Dietrich as a placeholder for his nephew Johann Matthias . In 1699 he moved to the Landespfennigkammer and became an assessor there . In the same year he received the Oblegium Brirup and was from July 1699 cathedral scholaster. For his nephew Johann Matthias he worked as a substitute for Drost in Werne from February 1700. From 1702 Hermann was also provost of St. Mauritz in Münster . His will of October 14, 1702 contained the request to be buried in the chapel built by his brother Matthias Friedrich in Münster.
