Act

Höhler, who holds a doctorate in theology, wrote a number of writings on questions of religious practice. His book How to Confess was particularly successful . , of which 88,000 copies were printed in several editions up to 1940. In addition, Höhler worked intensively on researching the Limburg cathedral treasure .

In 1899, Höhler suggested laying down larger parts of Limburg's old town in order to allow a clear view of the cathedral from the Kornmarkt . This project, which he called "Cathedral Freedom" , which never found great support, went down in town history as a curiosity.

Höhler's grave is located directly on the north side of Limburg Cathedral on the burial place of the canons .
