Matthias Harig

Matthias "Motz" Harig (born August 22, 1960 in Saarbrücken ) is a German jazz trumpeter .

Life

From 1970 to 1978 graduated Matthias Harig a classical education at the trumpet at Willi Thorn ( Symphony Orchestra of the Saarland Radio ). Since 1976 he has been intensively involved with jazz and played as a member of regional jazz bands. He attended workshops with Uli Beckerhoff and Jiggs Whigham as well as Siegfried Kessler , among others .

He had appearances in many jazz clubs in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France and at international jazz festivals such as the Jazzfest Berlin, "Pori Jazz" Finland, the jazz festivals Hanover, Dresden, Mannheim, Saarbrücken, Frankfurt, "Jazz in the Garden" ( Berlin) and the Donaueschinger Musiktage , he took part in radio and television productions on SFB, SWF, SR, ORF.

From 1991 to 1996 several European tours followed with the musicals Hair and Elvis , in 1991 he was on CD productions with the salsa band "Tumbao" ( Salsa par gozar , Vol. 1) and with the international big band " Experimenti Berlin Orchestra “Involved.

In 1997 and 1998 he worked as a trumpet lecturer at the Landesjugend-Jazz-Orchester Berlin and at the international jazz workshop "Summer Academy Berlin".

In 1998/99 he composed and arranged the music for the jazz & lyric project “Blood distribution is in progress…” and in 2000 recorded the accompanying CD. In 1999 he founded the label "Mokri-Music" together with the saxophonist Bernd Krick with the CD production Sinfonietta Burundi .

He has been a member of the Berlin Big Band since 2000 .

Matthias Harig currently lives as a freelance musician, band leader, teacher and arranger in Berlin.
