Matthias Löb

Matthias Löb (born July 18, 1964 in Soltau ) is a German lawyer . Since 2014 he has been director of the Regional Association of Westphalia-Lippe (LWL) and chairman of the Westphalian Heimatbund (WHB).

After graduating from high school in 1984 in Lingen (Ems) and two years as a soldier in the Bundeswehr (reserve officer), Löb studied law at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster from 1986 to 1992 . After working as a research assistant at the University of Münster, he completed his legal clerkship from 1994 to 1996 and passed the second state examination in law. On August 1, 1996, Löb entered the service of the Westphalia-Lippe Regional Association, initially as a consultant in the main and personnel department and the hospitals and health care department. In 1998 he became a personal advisor to the LWL director Wolfgang Schäfer , in 2001 head of the LWL cultural department, 2005 deputy to the cultural department, 2007 department head for municipal pension funds and LWL construction and property management. On November 1, 2010, Löb became the first regional councilor and treasurer of the LWL, so he was also the representative of the LWL director.

On January 30, 2014, Löb was elected by the Westphalia-Lippe Regional Assembly to succeed LWL Director Wolfgang Kirsch . In addition, on March 25, 2014, he was also elected to succeed Kirsch in the post of WHB chairman. On July 1, 2014, Löb took up his positions as director of the LWL and chairman of the WHB.
