Location of Hundsiefen in Bergisch Gladbach |
Hundsiefen is a district in the Bensberg district of Bergisch Gladbach .
history
The settlement name Hundsiefen takes up the medieval settlement name Hundsiefen, which is recorded in the original cadastre as Hundseifen . The Hundsiefen court association, to which Broichen also belonged, had its own court and was transferred to the St. Severin monastery in Cologne under Duke Adolf VII of Jülich-Berg . In a protocol of the court court dated May 23, 1715, the name "hundtseiffen" can be found for the settlement . In the course of secularization , the St. Severin Monastery was abolished in 1802.
The defining word dog in field names generally refers to something inferior. This could be a barren piece of land, for example. A Siefen is a mostly narrow, humid and ravine-like valley . So this is a narrow valley that is not suitable for arable farming.
monument
The so-called Haus Offermann, Hundsiefen 5 is entered under no. 135 in the list of architectural monuments in Bergisch Gladbach .
