Klausenberg is a district in the Bensberg district of Bergisch Gladbach .
history
The settlement name Klausenberg takes up the earlier settlement name Auf'm Klausenberg , which is recorded in the original cadastre southeast of the old castle . This is where the first Bensberg parish church stood, which is documented for 1155. In 1554 a new church was built on the site of today's parish church of St. Nicholas . On the Klausenberg, the parish and the pastorate remained part of the church property, from which the parish expenses and financial expenses for the welfare of the poor were denied.
The field name Klausenberg (clusenberg) is derived from the Old High German “clûsa” and the Middle High German “kluse” or originally from the Latin “claustra / clusa” (= bolt, lock, bottleneck).
