Location of Heidplätze in Bergisch Gladbach |
Heidplätze is a district in the Bensberg district of Bergisch Gladbach .
history
The medieval settlement name Heidplätze is recorded in the original cadastre in the form Auf'm Heidplätze . The homestead Heidplätze was one of the farmsteads that arose after the construction of the so-called residential castle in the 12th century below the fortress of Old Castle Bensberg . In the first documentary mention in 1487, the tax, lease and tribute lists, the estate is mentioned in connection with the tax and judicial district of the Bensberger Freiheit .
The meaning of the name of the settlement cannot be clearly clarified. The qualifying expression Heid can be interpreted in the ecclesiastical sense for non-Christians as heathens and as indicative of pre- or early historical finds. Then one understands by heather a barren area overgrown with heather , gorse and bushes .
