Matthias Liebich

Matthias Liebich (* 1958 ) is a German choir conductor , cathedral music director and church music director .

Live and act

During the GDR era, Liebich trained as an organ builder and then studied conducting and accompaniment at the Dresden University of Music, graduating as Kapellmeister . In this function he worked at the German-Sorbian People's Theater in Bautzen and at the Saxony State Theaters in Radebeul ; in addition, he made guest appearances on numerous stages in Germany and Europe.

During the turnaround in 1989/1990 he was ready, together with the later artistic director Christian Schmidt and the actor Horst Mendelsohn , to take on responsibility for running the state theaters in order to bring them through the difficult times.

In 1997 Liebich, who had once been a chapel boy there himself, was appointed choir director of the Dresden choir boys and at the same time cathedral chapel master of the Catholic Court Church in Dresden .

In June 2008 Liebich, who also directs the Dresden Cathedral Choir, was appointed church music director. For this he is at the University of Music Carl Maria von Weber Dresden lecturer for Conducting , Partitur- and sight reading and board member of the German Association of Pueri Cantores .

Liebich's work as a composer can be seen in several plays, musicals and sacred works.
