Matthias Moll , also Mattschö (Mathieu) Moll , (born January 8, 1901 in Aachen ; † September 30, 1958 ibid) was a member of the Bundestag for the SPD parliamentary group and a member of the SPD in the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia .

Matthias Moll came from the working class. After completing elementary school , he attended business schools in Bernau and Dürrenberg. He successfully completed an apprenticeship as a locksmith and worked as a machine fitter until 1932 , later as a senior insurance inspector.

politics

He became a member of the SPD in 1920. He quickly rose to become chairman of the SPD Aachen. In 1922 he became a functionary in the German Metalworkers' Association , and in 1925 he made the leap into local administration. From 1920 to 1932 Matthias Moll was an elected member of the city ​​council of Aachen. Even after the Second World War , he was again a city representative and, as the long-time leader of the SPD parliamentary group, helped to rebuild the democratic self-government of the city of Aachen. As managing director of the Arbeiterwohlfahrt (AWO), he played a decisive role in alleviating the hardship resulting from the war in the post-war years.

In his capacity as a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia , he made a national political appearance for the first time. On October 10, 1949, he succeeded him in the 1st state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia . In the second electoral term he resigned on November 11, 1953, since he was a member of the second German Bundestag on September 6, 1953 . Here he resigned in 1957 after the end of the electoral term.

His contribution to the reconstruction of the Elisenbrunnen and the Burtscheid baths is one of his political merits in Aachen . In the Hangeweiher spa area in Aachen , the Mattschö-Moll-Weg was named after him.

Matthias Moll was a member of the public services, transport and traffic union .
