Matthias Nagel (Canon)

Matthias Nagel (* in the 16th century; † 1589 ) was a Protestant canon in Münster .

Life

Matthias Nagel came from the Westphalian noble family of Nagel , which had its origins in the Grafschaft Ravensberg and spread to the Rhineland and the Netherlands in the 16th century . He was after the August 14, 1569 on presentation of the son of Ludeke nail in Ittlingen and his wife Christina Elisabeth von Loe and was Johann Nagel präbendiert and emancipated three years later. In 1577 he joined the youth party in the cathedral chapter , of which Bernhard von Westerholt was a co-founder and was close to the Protestant faith. On the Chapter Day on November 12, 1575, ten capitulars were Protestant; sixteen were Catholic . Matthias died in 1589. His uncle Jobst was canon in Münster from 1569 to 1572.
