Johann Nagel (Canon)

Johann Nagel (* in the 16th century; † November 3, 1577 ) was canon in Münster .

Life

Johann Nagel came from the Westphalian noble family of Nagel , which had its origins in the Grafschaft Ravensberg and spread to the Rhineland and the Netherlands in the 16th century . He was the son of Hermann Nagel zu Königsbrück (1488–1552) and his wife Ursula von Schade zu Ihorst . On February 13, 1540 he received a cathedral praise from Münster . The archbishop gave him on 30 November 1557 Provost St. Martini and on 1 May 1559 Provost Beckum . Johann was also in the possession of the Obedidenz Buldern and in 1577 as cathedral senior in the formation of the junior party in the cathedral chapter - close to the Protestant faith - in preparation for the election of bishops . His brothers Jobst and Dietrich were also canons in Münster.
