Matthias "Matze" Penk (born February 11, 1988 in Berlin ) is a German volleyball and beach volleyball player .
Career hall
Penk began his career in 2000 in the capital with the Berlin TSC . The player later played in the second Bundesliga at TSGL Schöneiche until 2013 . Then Penk moved to Bundesliga relegated Netzhoppers KW-Bestensee , where he was used as an outside attacker and promoted to the Bundesliga in 2014 . In 2017 Penk moved to the second division club SV Lindow-Gransee .
Career Beach
Penk started playing beach volleyball in 2004. With his first partner René Rudolph he became German U20 champion in Kiel in 2006 . His other partners at national level were Stefan Köhler in 2007 , Henry Curin in 2008 and 2011 , Arvid Kinder in 2009 and Felix Quecke in 2010 . Internationally, Penk finished seventh in 2005 with Jonathan Erdmann at the U18 European Championship, in 2007 with Stefan Köhler at the U20 European Championship and in 2008 with Alexander Walkenhorst at the U21 World Championship fourth. The duo Penk / Walkenhorst became student vice world champion in Alanya and U23 vice European champion in Kos in 2010 . Penk is currently also the editor-in-chief at beach-volleyball.de .
