Matthias Spindler

Matthias Spindler (born February 5, 1954 in Ludwigshafen ) is a German journalist , historian and radio presenter.

Spindler, who grew up in Waldsee and attended the Altsprachliches Gymnasium Speyer , first studied sociology and history at the University of Mannheim , from the 1974 summer semester at the University of Heidelberg with Middle and Modern History as a major, Ancient History and Sociology as a minor (graduated in 1977 as a Magister Artium ).

During his studies, he wrote his first record reviews for the Jazz Podium , then wrote jazz concert reviews for Die Rheinpfalz , and since 1981 jazz and rock reviews for Mannheimer Morgen . Jazz programs were first created in 1976 for NDR ; after a traineeship at the Hessischer Rundfunk , he has moderated the jazz club and other jazz programs for this institution since 1984 (today live jazz and the hr big band on hr2 ). For the same station he was responsible for Swingtime as author and unit manager until March 2019 (with spokesman Bill Ramsey ). Features, but also numerous magazine articles, were created for the regional culture editorial team of the SWR in Mainz.

As a regional historian, he and Gerhard Gräber research separatism in the Palatinate .

His younger brother, Georg Spindler , is also a journalist and works for Mannheimer Morgen.
