Matthias Weishaupt

Matthias Weishaupt (born March 19, 1961 ) is a Swiss historian and politician ( SP ).

Between 2004 and 2006, Matthias Weishaupt presided over the newly founded SP Rotbach section, which encompasses the municipalities of Bühler , Gais and Teufen .

From 2006 to 2019 he was a member of the government council of the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden and headed the health and social affairs department. From 2015 to 2017 he was also Landammann (District President). Since 2019 he has chaired the Federal Commission on Addiction and Prevention of Noncommunicable Diseases (EKSN) .

Before entering politics, Matthias Weishaupt was head of the Appenzell Ausserrhoden Cantonal Library in Trogen from 1998 to 2006 .
