Matthias Willems

Matthias Willems (born November 30, 1963 in Bad Kreuznach ) is a German medical IT specialist . He is a professor at the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen and has been President of the THM since April 1, 2016 .

After graduating from the Staatl. Gymnasium on the city wall in Bad Kreuznach Willems studied medical informatics at the University of Heidelberg and the University of Applied Sciences Heilbronn and graduated with a diploma. In 1991 he received his doctorate from Ulm University. rer. biol. hum. and qualified as an Executive MBA (2002) at the École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées in Paris. From 1991 to 2002 Willems worked for various software companies. Most recently, he was a member of the management team at Oracle Germany in Frankfurt am Main .

In 2003, Willems was appointed professor for practical computer science at the Giessen-Friedberg University of Applied Sciences (today Central Hesse University of Applied Sciences). Teaching focuses on negotiation and sales, as well as the management of IT projects. Willems was also involved in the center of dual university studies at THM in Wetzlar . From 2012 to 2015 he was Managing Director there.

In October 2015, the Senate of the University of Applied Sciences chose Willems to succeed Günther Grabatin as President of the THM. The term of office began in April 2016 and lasts for six years.
