Matthias Zágon hollow stone

Matthias Zágon Hohl-Stein (* 1952 in Koblenz ) is a German sculptor , painter and graphic artist .

Life

In 1968 he did an apprenticeship as a locksmith and began an apprenticeship as an advertising and lettering painter in 1972, and in 1976 studied as an art teacher. From 1978 he worked as a graphic artist at the Hans Otto Theater in Potsdam . He has been a freelancer since 1987. As a critical artist, restricted in his work by the GDR authorities, he worked for the Stephanus Foundation in Berlin-Weißensee from 1979–1984. During this time he created numerous posters and graphics for the diaconal work of the Christian foundation. In 1992 he moved from his studio in Berlin-Wedding to Neuruppin- Karwe, where the artist's workshop and gallery is now located in the old sheep farm. Since 2009 he has a new studio in Lichtenberg.

In 1984 he won first prize in the artist competition "Overcoming the Wall by Painting the Wall".
