Matti Jutila (wrestler)

Matti Einari Jutila (born September 17, 1932 in Suoniemi , Tampere ) is a Canadian wrestler. He competed for Canada in the 1964 Summer Olympics.

Career

Born in the city of Suoniemi - now part of Nokia - Matti Jutila was nominated by the Canadian Olympic Committee for the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. He participated as a wrestler in both Greco-Roman wrestling and freestyle wrestling . In the Greco-Roman style, he met the Australian Don Cacas in the first round and qualified for the second round with a win. In this round he was defeated by the American Ronald Finley .

In freestyle wrestling, Matti Jutila met the Iranian Ibrahim Seifpour in the first round , whom he defeated and moved into the second round. The Finn Tauno Jaskari was waiting for him there . With a win he qualified for the third round and was defeated there by the American Bob Douglas , with which he was eliminated from the Olympic competition.
