Tauno Jaskari

Tauno Jaskari (born June 1, 1934 in Nurmo ) is a former Finnish wrestler . He was Vice World Champion and participant in the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome .

Jaskari wrestled in the free and Greco-Roman style in the bantamweight, later also in the featherweight. In international competitions, however, he was used exclusively in free style, such as at his first World Cup in Tokyo in 1954 , when he was the only one of a Finnish two-man team to win a bronze medal. Three years later he won the World Cup silver medal in Istanbul, which he was able to defend at the next Freestyle World Cup in Tehran in 1959 . Both times only the Turk Hüseyin Akbaş was better. In the 1960s he was still among the best in the world, but he was no longer placed in the top three. He finished his only Olympic participation in 1960 in fifth place. In Finland he celebrated a total of 20 championships between 1953 and 1968.

His father was Aatos Tuomas Jaskari , who won a bronze free style bantamweight medal at the 1932 Olympic Games in Los Angeles .
