society

Mattia Cassani began his active career in the Juventus Turin youth team . In the 2002/03 season, he played his first professional game for Juventus in the UEFA Champions League . However, he could never prevail in Turin and did not play a league game. In January 2003, the club loaned him to Sampdoria Genoa until the end of the season . On May 10, 2003 he made his debut for Sampdoria in Serie B in the game against Ternana Calcio . After the loan ended, he returned to Juventus, but only signed a contract with Hellas Verona a little later . In his first season at Hellas, he played in 37 league games and earned a regular place. In the following two years he stayed with Hellas Verona in Serie B. He remained in the 2005/06 season with the team, however, only three points above the relegation ranks.

In July 2006, the Italian first division club US Palermo signed the defender. Cassani also quickly made it into the regular squad in Palermo. On April 6, 2008, he scored his first professional goal in the home game against his youth club Juventus. With the winning goal in the 84th minute, he ensured the 3-2 victory.

In the 2009/10 season he formed the back four of the Sicilians together with Cesare Bovo , Simon Kjær and Federico Balzaretti . In summer 2011 he left the club and switched to league rivals Fiorentina on loan . Before the 2013/14 season, Cassani was awarded again, this time to Parma FC . Cassani was firmly committed to the 2014/15 season. After the bankruptcy of FC Parma, he returned to Sampdoria Genoa for the 2015/16 season .

After only one year he left Sampdoria and moved to FC Bari in 1908 in Serie B, where he played until summer 2018.

National team

Cassani was used in six games in the Italian U-20s in 2003 . After he was called up on June 6, 2009 for the friendly against Northern Ireland and on November 14, 2009 against the Netherlands for Italy in the squad, he made his debut four days later in the 1-0 win over Sweden for the Squadra Azzurra .

In 2010 and 2011 Cassani played sporadically in test and qualifying matches before playing the last of his eleven international matches against Malta in September 2012 .
