Mattias Lööf (born October 4, 1972 in Uppsala ) is a former Swedish ice hockey player who was active during his career for the Hannover Scorpions from the German Ice Hockey League . There he is the player with the second most league games, the third best scorer and the second best assists in the club's history.

Career

Lööf began his career in 1990 with Leksands IF , with whom he was active in the Swedish top division, the Elitserien . In Leksand he was under contract until the end of the 1993/94 season and then moved to the then league competitor Rögle BK , with whom he was relegated to Division 1 (then the second highest league). In the following years he went on the ice for several ice hockey clubs, including Rauman Lukko from the Finnish SM-liiga and Västerås IK from the Swedish Elitserien.

In the summer of 1999, those responsible for the Hanover Scorpions from the German Ice Hockey League became aware of the right-handed shooter and transferred him to Lower Saxony . At the Scorpions, he was one of the top performers and was also one of the best scorers in the team. In a total of 259 league games, he was able to achieve 238 points, making him the third-best scorer in the club's history. He was also able to secure relegation with the Scorpions in the 1999/2000 and 2003/04 seasons with the club . He had a significant share with his point yield of 18 scorer points in 17 completed games.

After his contract was not renewed at the end of the 2003/04 season and there was also a lack of offers from the German Ice Hockey League, he decided to return to his home in Sweden. This was followed by two years at Västerås IK and one year at third division team Surahammars IF before he ended his active ice hockey career in 2007 at the age of 34.
