Matty B

Matty B (born Matthew Barrett ) is a former Australian rapper who now works as a miner in the Western Australia mining industry .

biography

Matthew Barrett grew up in Western Australia and was a member of the hip-hop crew Syllaboliks from Perth. He released his songs first on the record label Obese Records and later on his own record label B-Style Entertainment .

As a former pro surfing professional, Barrett only rapped when he met with the Syllaboliks, which first happened in 1999.

Barrett's first release was "Courageous," which appeared in 2000 on the Culture of Kings compilation . After that, his debut album, The Courageous LP , came out in 2002 . A song of the album, "Fridays", was also on the 2005 album Super request Dog's Breakfast of Triple J published. It was a compilation of often requested songs from Triple J's Super Request program.

In 2001 Matty B performed at the Margaret River Masters Concert and in 2002 at the Big Day Out concerts.

Barrett moved to the Gold Coast and released the EP Simple but Effective in 2006 on his own label, B-Style Entertainment.
