Mauá is a city in the Brazilian state of São Paulo . In 2018, 468,148 people lived in Mauá on around 62.3 km². In terms of population, Mauá is one of the 50 largest cities in Brazil. The name of the place comes from the Tupí language .

A third of the urban area of ​​Mauá is industrial land. Ten percent of the municipal area consist of a rural area and are part of the Parque Estadual da Serra do Mar .

The city is connected to the Capuava , Mauá and Estação Guapituba stations by CPTM line 10 .

Industrial importance

Today Mauá is known as the “capital of porcelain ” because this raw material played a major role in the development of the community. With two very large industrial parks ( Capuava and Sertãozinho ) and the largest Pólo Petroquímico of RECAP (Refinaria de Capuava), which belongs to Petrobras , Mauá is one of the largest industrial centers in the country.
