Maureen Gardner
Maureen Angela Jane Gardner (born November 12, 1928 in Oxford , Oxfordshire , † September 2, 1974 in North Stoneham , Hampshire ) was a British athlete and Olympic medalist.
At the XIV Summer Olympics in London in 1948 , she won the silver medal in the 80-meter hurdles behind the Dutch Fanny Blankers-Koen (gold) and ahead of the Australian Shirley Strickland (bronze). The time achieved by both was noted as 11.4 seconds. In addition to her career in athletics , she also gave ballet lessons . She married Geoff Dyson, the head coach of the British team.
