Maurice Charretier
Maurice Charretier (born September 17, 1926 in Saint-Geniès-de-Comolas , Département Gard ; † September 30, 1987 in Carpentras , Département Vaucluse ) was a French politician of the Union pour la démocratie française (UDF), which among other things was a member of National Assembly and the Senate was. He was also Minister for Trade and Crafts between 1979 and 1981.
Life
Maurice Charretier worked as a lawyer after studying law . He began his political career in local politics and was mayor of Carpentras from 1965 until his death in 1987 . On April 3, 1978 he became a member of the National Assembly (Assemblée nationale) for the Union pour la démocratie française (UDF ) and represented the Vaucluse department in this until August 4, 1979 . On July 4, 1979, he succeeded Jacques Barrot as Minister of Commerce and Crafts (Ministre du commerce et de l'artisanat) in the Barre III cabinet and held this ministerial office until May 14, 1981.
On April 2, 1986, Charretier was again a member of the National Assembly for the UDF, in which he again represented the Vaucluse department until September 30, 1986. He resigned after being elected a member of the Senate on September 28, 1986 . He remained a member of the Senate until his death on September 30, 1987, during which time he was a member of the Committee on Constitutional Law, Legislation, Universal Suffrage, Regulations and General Administration (Commission des lois constitutionnelles, de législation, du suffrage universel, du Règlement et dadministration générale) .
