Maurice Destenay

Maurice Jean Léon Destenay (* 18th February 1900 in Tilleur , Liège Province , Belgium ; † 1. September 1973 in Liege ) was a Belgian politician of the Liberal Party and publisher .

biography

After studying was an educator and as a teacher worked and later founder and editor of the liberal monthly magazine Action Libérale .

He began his political career as a liberal candidate in 1949 when he was elected a member of the Chamber of Deputies , in which he represented the district of Liège until 1965 . At the same time in 1954 he succeeded Henri Liebaert as chairman of the Liberal Party. In this post he was followed in 1958 by Roger Motz .

After working as a lay judge , he was last mayor of Liège from 1963 until his death .

Maurice Destenay was honored with the honorary title of Minister of State for his political services on July 12, 1966 .
