Maurice Gillen
Maurice Gillen (born July 25, 1895 in Paris , † April 5, 1974 in Luxembourg ) was a cyclist from Luxembourg and national champion in cycling .
Athletic career
Gillen competed in his first races in 1921, initially only as a road driver. In 1923 he became the Luxembourg champion in the amateur sprint . Gillen was nominated for the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris and started in the sprint, although he did not get beyond preliminary runs. As a road driver , he won three smaller races, on the track he was able to stand out especially in two-man team driving. He contested his last race in 1925.
In 1936 he was in charge of his country's Olympic team at the Berlin Games .
Professional
Maurice Gillen was the owner of a bicycle shop in Luxembourg. For a time he was manager of a Luxembourg cycling team, which u. a. Marcel Ernzer belonged. He was a founding member of La Flèche Luxembourg.

Maurice Gillen was the father of Lucien "Lull" Gillen , who was best known as a driver of six-day races.
