Maurice De Shawn Taylor (born October 30, 1976 in Detroit , Michigan ) is a retired American basketball player .
NBA
Maurice Taylor played at the University of Michigan for three years . In the 1997 NBA draft , he was selected by the Los Angeles Clippers in 14th place. In a weak Clipper team, Taylor was an important player and was in the 1999-2000 season top scorer of the Clippers with 17.1 points per game. In the summer of 2000 he refused to renew with the Clippers and moved to the Houston Rockets . Taylor was to replace Charles Barkley, who had recently resigned, as stater . After a solid first year, he injured himself and fell out of the 2001-02 season. Taylor returned for the 2002-03 season, but came off the bench over the next few years. In the 2004–05 season he was transferred to the New York Knicks . In the summer of 2006, he joined the Sacramento Kings , from whom he was released in January 2007.
Europe
In January 2009 Taylor signed with Olimpia Milano in Italy. After a season in China with Shanxi Zhongyu , he returned to Italy where he played for Benetton Treviso and Enel Brindisi .
