Maurice Tornay (politician)

Maurice Tornay (born November 6, 1953 ; resident in Orsières ) is a Swiss politician ( CVP ).

biography

In 1972 he completed his training as an EFZ businessman. In 1985 he obtained the federal diploma as a book expert and three years later (1988) the diploma as a tax expert. Between 1989 and 2009 he was director of Fiduciaire de l'Entremont SA and lecturer at HES-SO Valais / Wallis.

His first political office was that of Deputy Grand Councilor of the Canton of Valais . Between 1997 and 2005 he was a member of the Grand Council, where he was President of the CVP parliamentary group in Lower Valais. He was elected to the State Council on March 4, 2009 and was re-elected on March 17, 2013. He was Head of the Department of Finance and Institutions (DFI). For the 2013/2014 year of office he was President of the State Council. He did not run for the elections in March 2017.

Maurice Tornay is married with five children and lives in Orsières .
