Mauro Acosta

Mauro Acosta , full name Mauro Raúl Acosta , (born January 31, 1989 ) is a Uruguayan weightlifter .

Career

The 1.59 meter tall Mauro Acosta took sixth place in the category up to 62 kg at the South American weightlifting championships in Buenos Aires in 2008 . He was at the Pan American Championships of 2010 in Guatemala City 14th in the weight class up to 56 kg. Acosta took part with the Uruguayan team in the Pan American Games 2011 in Guadalajara and in the South American Championships that year in the class up to 62 kg. He finished the competitions in eighth or second place. In the same weight class, he finished tenth at the 2013 Pan American Championships in Isla Margarita, Venezuela , and sixth at the South American Championships .

At the South American Games in Santiago de Chile in 2014 , he finished 6th in the competition in the class up to 62 kg won by the Colombian Francisco A. Mosquera . He also took part in the South American Championships in Brazil in 2016 and finished 10th in the class up to 62 kg.

Awards

As part of the honors of the best Uruguayan athletes of the period 2009-2010 ("Deportista del Año"), he was honored on March 28, 2011 by the Comité Olímpico Uruguayo in the Teatro Solís as the best athlete of 2009 in the category "Weightlifting".
