Mauro Damián Rosales (born February 24, 1981 in Villa María , Córdoba Province ) is an Argentine football player .

Career

The striker began his professional career in 1999 with Newell's Old Boys . He completed 112 games for the club and scored 30 goals. In the summer of 2004 he was signed by Ajax Amsterdam . With Ajax he won the Johan Cruyff Schaal in 2005 and 2006 , and the KNVB Cup in 2006 .

After two and a half years and 63 games for the Dutch, he moved in March 2007 to CA River Plate . In April he scored the equalizer in his first Superclásico and secured a point for his new club in the away game in the Bombonera . With the Argentines he won the Clausura in the Primera División in 2008 .

In February 2011 he completed a trial training at Seattle Sounders FC . He then moved to the Major League Soccer franchise on March 18, 2011 . In his first season he was voted Newcomer of the Year and won the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup with his team . In the three seasons up to 2013 Rosales played in 86 league games and scored 12 goals and 34 assists.

For the 2014 season he moved within the league to Chivas USA . During the season he was signed to the Canadian franchise Vancouver Whitecaps , which also plays in Major League Soccer.

For the Argentine national football team , Mauro Rosales played ten games in 2004 and scored one goal. He was part of the squad of the Argentine national team, which won gold at the Summer Olympics in Athens . In 2001 he won the Junior World Cup with Argentina .
