As a former electoral toll office building, the Mautnerschloss is now a training and seminar building on In den Grüben in Burghausen .

Building description

The Mautnerschloss is a three-storey, three-winged building with a hipped roof and gable roofs. The three wings are grouped around an inner courtyard that opens to the west, facing the street. The main building has three floors on the inner courtyard side. On the first and second floors there are arcades from the Renaissance . A polygonal stair tower is located between the main wing and the side wing to the southwest. The south-east facing facade facing the Salzach is three-storey in structure, but the ground floor has partially disappeared under the terrain due to the increase in level due to the construction of the Salzlände coastal road. This measure was carried out due to flood protection , see history of the city of Burghausen .

history

The previous building was a castle-like building by the noble Mautner zu Burghausen family . They controlled the salt trade on the Salzach in the 14th century . Mautner civil servants later take over this task. The current building can already be seen on the city model by Jakob Sandtner from 1574. Since then, the ditch roof of the main wing has been replaced by a hipped roof and the staircase tower has been added. The northeast wing was shortened by a window axis in favor of widening the street.

Ludwig Thoma lived in this building as a Latin student from 1877 to 1879.

The building is currently used for the Burghausen adult education center. The best known is the use by the Burghausen Jazz Club, for example for jazz courses and jam sessions , but also as part of the Burghausen International Jazz Week . The so-called jazz cellar in particular is a much-used venue for concerts.
