Maverick is a subway station named after the nearby Maverick Square of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) in the Boston borough of East Boston in the state of Massachusetts of the United States . It provides as easternmost station access for line Blue Line .

history

On December 5, 1904, the Maverick Portal was erected at the location of today's subway station , allowing trams to come to the surface from the East Boston Tunnel . The station was only opened on April 18, 1924 when the line was converted to run with power rails . In 1952, the last trams ran at the station, and since then it has been operated solely by the underground.
