Max-Emanuel Geis

Max-Emanuel Geis (born November 25, 1960 in Augsburg ) is a German legal scholar and full professor of public law at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg .

Life

Max-Emanuel Geis studied law at the Universities of Augsburg and Freiburg . He received his doctorate in 1990 at the University of Regensburg and also completed his habilitation there in 1994. From 1994 to 1995 he was Professor of Public Law at the University of Augsburg. From 1995 to 2002 he held the chair for constitutional and administrative law at the University of Konstanz . Geis has held the chair for German and Bavarian constitutional and administrative law at the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg since 2002. In 2003 he founded the Research Center for Science and University Law there. He is a member of the Evaluation Committee of the Science Council and Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board of the German Research Institute for Public Administration in Speyer. In addition, he and Rüdiger Ahrens are chairman of the Bavarian regional association in the German University Association. He has been a member of the Bavarian Constitutional Court since 2018 .

Geis is married and has three grown children.
