Max Andriano (born August 28, 1867 in Heidelberg , † March 1, 1933 in Wiesbaden ) was a German stage actor with occasional trips to direct the theater.

Live and act

Born in Heidelberg, he grew up in Mannheim, where he became a student of the court actor Adolf Bauer and was allowed to work as an acting trainee at the court theater. On October 7, 1887, Max Andriano made his official debut as an actor. In the following years, Andriano went to several small stages, where he appeared, but also directed. With his arrival in Wiesbaden, where he found a livelihood as the first character comedian at the Royal Theater (after 1918: State Theater), Andriano's most important artistic period began.

For around three decades he remained loyal to this stage until shortly before his death at the age of 65 and was occasionally allowed to direct. Andriano had particular success in Shakespeare plays, singspiele and operettas. His most important roles include the note in A Midsummer Night's Dream , Malvolio in Was Ihr wollt , the Giesecke in Im Weisse Rößl , the Zsupan in Der Zigeunerbaron , the manufacturer Wiedebrecht in the comedy Im Bunte Rock , the carpenter Engstrand in Ibsen's Ghosts and his colleague Crampton in the Hauptmann play of the same name.
