Life

Max Egger completed primary school and lower grammar school classes in Solothurn and graduated from the Schwyz College . He then studied law in Bern and Geneva and received his doctorate in 1953. Egger then worked in industry for ten years before he became administrative director of the Solothurn Citizens Hospital in 1963 . In 1973 Max Egger was elected as the successor to Alfred Rötheli, who was elected to the government council. In 1985, thanks to a pact between the CVP and the FDP, Egger was elected to the government council of the canton of Solothurn at the expense of the second SP seat. In return, the free-thinking Konrad Schwaller succeeded Egger as state clerk. In the renewal elections in 1989, Egger was easily re-elected with the best result of all candidates in the first ballot. In 1992 he resigned from the government council and was succeeded by Thomas Wallner .
