Max Hayek
Max Hayek (born December 24, 1882 in Birnbaum ; † May 1944 in Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp ) was a German writer , journalist , editor and translator . He became a victim of the Nazi regime.
Life
Max Hayek was born in Birnbaum near Lundenburg in 1882 to Leopold and Ernestine Hayek. He studied in Vienna and later worked as a correspondent for English and French newspapers. From 1918 to 1923 he was married to the painter and graphic artist Sascha Kronburg . During the Second World War he was imprisoned in the Dossin barracks in Belgium and, according to a deportation list, was deported on May 19, 1944 with Transport XXV from Malines to Auschwitz-Birkenau.
