Max Luetolf

Max Oskar Lütolf (born December 1, 1934 in Altishofen ; † November 23, 2015 ) was a Swiss musicologist .

Lütolf received his doctorate in 1967 and completed his habilitation in 1976 at the University of Zurich , where he was professor from 1977 until his retirement in 2000 - at the same time as Ernst Lichtenhahn . Since 1984 he has also been deputy chairman of the Institute for Hymnological and Music-Ethnological Studies in Cologne. In 1973 he was awarded the Dent Medal and in 1986 received an honorary doctorate from the Pontifical Institute for Church Music . In 1992 he was accepted into the Academia Europaea .
