history
Until the 18th century the name of the place was only Carrascal, a name whose origin is not entirely clear - the local coat of arms with its five trees testifies to the derivation of the Celtic or Celtiberian word stem karr , which was used for holm oaks ( Quercus ilex ).
Little is known about the history of the place: There was a Roman fort called Septempublicam nearby , from which wall remains have been preserved; In addition, two bridges over the Río Duratón near the hamlets (pedanías) Talcano and Picazos are traced back to Roman constructions. The Castilian Count Fernán González began the resettlement ( repoblación ) of Christians from northern Spain in the 10th century - a policy that was continued by his son Sancho García in the 11th century.
