Max Machon (* 1894 in Berlin ; † August 30, 1971 in Tenerife ) was a German boxing trainer , manager and functional .

His most famous protégé was the former heavyweight boxing champion Max Schmeling . The two met in 1926 when Machon was looking for a ring supervisor. Machon recognized and shaped Schmeling's boxing talent and later accompanied him as a trainer to his major appearances in the USA. Machon became particularly well-known when he illegally threw in the towel in the 1938 World Championship match against Joe Louis and finally even got into the ring to protect the clearly inferior Schmeling from the hail of his opponent after various downfalls.

After Schmeling's career ended in 1948, Machon became a voluntary boxing functionary for various Berlin associations, including President of the Commission for Boxing Berlin .

In the biopic Max Schmeling - A German Legend from 2010, Machon is played by Heino Ferch .
