Max Ras

Max Ras (born June 4, 1889 in Graz , † January 12, 1966 in Basel ), actually Max Adolf Rasworscheg , was a Swiss journalist and publisher .

Life

Ras, the son of a tailor, was in Switzerland from 1905 ( naturalized in Stein in 1917 ). He did an apprenticeship as a locksmith in Zurich and graduated from high school in Bern in 1908 . He then went on to study medicine, which he broke off. From 1909 Ras worked as a stenographer for the Swiss dispatch agency in Zurich, in 1916 he switched to the Basler Nachrichten . In 1926, Ras founded the Swiss Observer . In January 1927, 661,404 copies of the first edition were distributed free of charge to all households in German-speaking Switzerland. At that time, the observer still appeared monthly.
