Max Schiemann

Max Schiemann (born September 10, 1866 in Breslau ; † February 2, 1933 in Wurzen ) was a German electrical engineer and entrepreneur . He was a co-owner of the company for trackless railways Max Schiemann & Co. in Wurzen.

His parents were the insurance salesman Albert Karl Schiemann (1837–1897) , who came from Königsberg and later lived in Breslau, and Malvile (Malwine) Luise Emilie nee. Oloff (1840–1907), the daughter of the Königsberg painter Friedrich August Oloff and Wilhelmine Louise Amalie Oloff born. Breckenfelder. He had five siblings. His grandfather Carl Gottlieb Schiemann (1801–1872) was a master tailor in Königsberg.

In 1892 he married Elisabeth Bahlmann (1871-1949) in Frankfurt an der Oder , the daughter of the Cracow merchant in Bernau Theodor Bahlmann (1837-1886). Their children were Erich Schiemann (1897–1956), who last worked as an engineer in Mannheim, and Hildegard Scheidges, née. Schiemann (1899–1979), most recently music teacher in Berlin.

The chemist Günther Schiemann (1899–1967) is his nephew.

Act

After studying electrical engineering at the Technical University (Berlin-) Charlottenburg , he worked for Siemens & Halske in Berlin with electric trams. He then worked for Herrmann Bachstein , who founded the Central Administration for Secundairbahnen in 1879 , and for the Dresden tram.

In 1900 he founded his own engineering office in Dresden and in 1901 in Wurzen, together with Fritz Momber, the Society for Trackless Railways Max Schiemann & Co. In the summer of 1901, the trackless Bielathal motor train with electrical overhead lines started operations. Subsequently, further trackless railways were built in Germany, Austria and Norway.

At the beginning of the First World War, projects in Bressanone and Oran in Algeria had to be suspended. After Momber left, production was discontinued in 1926/1927.
