Max Strache

Max Strache (born September 14, 1935 in Judenburg ) is a former Austrian politician ( SPÖ ), party secretary and insurance director. Strache was from 1981 to 1982 member of the Federal Council and from 1982 to 1986 Member of the National Council .

Life

Strache attended elementary and secondary school in Judenburg between 1941 and 1949 and then completed an apprenticeship as a tool smith between 1949 and 1952. He then worked as a feather smith from 1952 to 1961 and from 1961 to 1966 as the state secretary of the Socialist Youth of Styria. After that he was Federal Secretary of the Young Generation until 1970 and Organizational Secretary of the SPÖ from 1970 to 1975. In 1975 he took over the role of SPÖ state party secretary in Lower Austria. He worked in this function until 1986, then was managing director of Prosekt Marketing from 1986 to 1987 and between 1988 and 1995 he was the country director of an insurance company. Strache retired in 1995.

In the political field, Strache was also active as a local councilor in Oberwölbling between 1980 and 1982 ; previously he had been politically active as a youth shop steward in the Styrian cast steel works in Judenburg from 1952 and 1960. Strache represented the SPÖ from April 9, 1981 to September 30, 1982 in the Federal Council and was then a member of the National Council between October 1, 1982 and December 16, 1986, although his membership in the National Council was interrupted for a few days in May 1983. After his professional and political career, Strache was President of the ARBÖ Lower Austria from 1995.
