Max Uth
Gustav Alexander Max Uth (born November 24, 1863 in Berlin ; † June 15, 1914 in Hermannswerder , Potsdam ) was a German painter and art professor.
Uth, the son of a factory owner, was a student at the Berlin Academy under Eugen Bracht . In 1897 he opened a schoolgirls studio in Berlin. His students were u. a. Gertrud Berger (1870–1949), Laura Schaberg (* 1860 or 1866; † 1935) and Sophie Wencke-Meinken (1874–1963).
In 1899 Uth was a founding member of the Berlin Secession . Together with Walter Leistikow u. a. he was one of the most important landscape painters .
He was married to Betty Gertrud Manasse since 1891.
