Ulrich Brockhaus

Ulrich Brockhaus (born April 14, 1936 in Wuppertal ) is a German evangelical theologian , former publisher of R. Brockhaus Verlag and author .

Life

Ulrich Brockhaus is a great-great-grandson of Carl Brockhaus and a great-grandson of Rudolf Brockhaus , the founders of R. Brockhaus Verlag. He completed an apprenticeship as a bookseller and then studied theology in Berlin , Hamburg , Amsterdam and Bonn . After his exam he was awarded a Dr. theol. PhD.

In 1969 he joined R. Brockhaus Verlag in the fifth generation, initially as a lecturer and in 1974 became managing director. Under his leadership, the Elberfeld Bible translation was fundamentally revised until 1985 . In 2001 Brockhaus retired. The publishing house was taken over by the Christian Media Foundation in Witten .

Brockhaus volunteered in the working group of the Brethren in the Federation of Evangelical Free Churches in Germany , in the main board of the German Evangelical Alliance and in the board of the Mission House Biblical School Wiedenest . In 1971 he co-founded the ABCteam publishing cooperation and in 1978 the Theological Publishing Association .

In 2003 Brockhaus received an honorary award from the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association (ECPA) for his life's work and his commitment to international cooperation among denominational publishers .
