Maxim was a bimonthly men's magazine that appeared in Germany from 2001 to 2012.

Appeared in Germany

The magazine was brought onto the market in 2001 by Axel Springer Verlag , who positioned it as an imitation product of the successful FHM . As such, the magazine was dedicated to topics such as men's fashion, cars, technology and “ lifestyle ” topics . In addition, erotic photos of some prominent women were printed. According to the publisher, the German starting edition of May 18, 2001 (June edition) achieved a circulation of 300,000 copies. According to IVW , Maxim achieved a sold circulation of 133,447 copies in the 3rd quarter of 2005.

At the beginning of 2008 Maxim was taken over by MVG Medien Verlagsgesellschaft (German activities of the Swiss publisher Marquard Media Group ). After individual sales in the last quarter of 2008 were only 45,000 copies and the advertising income also fell sharply at the beginning of 2009, the Marquard Media Group announced on March 27, 2009 that the title would be discontinued. The last German edition for the time being appeared in May 2009 before the new publisher NewLevel Establishment took over the license for the magazine and brought it back onto the market in August 2009 . The magazine was discontinued on October 18, 2012.

Since January 2012 the Zurich-based Posh Media GmbH has been selling a German-language edition in Switzerland and Austria.
