Maximiano Campos

Maximiano Accioly Campos (born November 19, 1941 in Recife , Pernambuco , † August 7, 1998 ibid) was a Brazilian writer and journalist.

Life

Campos obtained a bachelor's degree in law from the Universidade Católica de Pernambuco in Recife. After graduating, he became a journalist for the Diario de Pernambuco , wrote for these crônicas and became head of the literary foundation Fundação Joaquim Nabuco . Under the government of Miguel Arraes , he took over the post of State Secretary for Tourism, Culture and Sport in Pernambuco from January 1987 to December 1988.

He was married to the politician Ana Arraes (* 1947), from the marriage the two sons Eduardo Campos (1965-2014), a presidential candidate who died in an accident in August 2014, and Antônio Campos , writer. Antônio Campos heads the Instituto Maximiano Campos (IMC) in Recife, named after his father and founded in 2002. The institute has awarded the Prêmio Maximiano Campos de Literatura literary prize since 2005 .

Campos wrote around 17 works, some of which were only published posthumously. His first work, Sem lei nem rei, deals with the Coronelismo period in Sertão, Pernambucan . He belonged to the Pernambucan literary group of Geração 65 .
