Maximilian Halder

Maximilian Halder (born March 2, 1853 in Würzburg , † May 23, 1912 in Germersheim ) was a Bavarian major general and commandant of the Germersheim Fortress .

Life

family

Halder came from a family that had been associated with the Bavarian military for over 300 years . He was the son of a captain .

In 1882 he married Mathilde Steinheil. The marriage resulted in two children, including the later Colonel General Franz Halder (1884–1972).

Military career

Halder graduated from secondary school and joined the 3rd field artillery regiment "Queen Mother" of the Bavarian Army in 1871 as a one-year volunteer . There he was promoted to lieutenant in 1873 and served as a department adjutant from 1876. From 1879 to 1882 Halder graduated from the War Academy , which made him qualified for the general staff and the higher adjutantage. In the further course of his military career he was from October 1, 1901 to April 8, 1905 commander of the 3rd field artillery regiment "Queen Mother", then rose to major general and as such was in command of the Germersheim Fortress. In 1906 Halder was put up for disposal and he was retired.
