Maximilian Korge (born October 12, 1994 in Berlin ) is a German rower .

Career

Korge started rowing in 2005 at the young age of 11. As a teenager, he took part in the 2012 Junior World Championships and won a silver medal with the German team of eight. In the U23 age group, which is also part of the junior division, he rowed at the World Championships in the two following years and won a silver medal in the four-man without helmsman in 2014.

Korge also moved up early in the extended circle for the Germany eighth , with whom he competed in the 2015 rowing World Cup for the first time . In the course of the season, however, he became a permanent member of the German Vierer-ohne, which is formed from the same squad as the eight. At the World Championships on the French Lac d'Aiguebelette , he finished fifth with Max Planer , Felix Wimberger and Johannes Weißenfeld , thereby securing the German starting place at the Olympic Games in Rio. In the Olympic season Korge was able to assert himself in the foursome. At the European Championships in Brandenburg an der Havel, last year's line-up missed the final and took 7th place. With Anton Braun for Weißenfeld, the team was then nominated for the Olympic rowing regatta . Korge, Planer, Braun and Wimberger achieved 12th place at the 2016 Olympic Games .

Korge starts for the Berlin rowing club . At a height of 1.91 m, his competition weight is around 94 kg.
