Maximiliano Rodríguez , full name Maximiliano Rodríguez Maeso , (born October 2, 1990 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan football player .

Career

The 1.80 meter tall midfielder Maximiliano Rodríguez is the brother of the football player Gastón Rodríguez . At the beginning of his career, he was part of the squad of the Uruguayan first division club Montevideo Wanderers since the 2009/10 season . That season he ran 18 times in the Primera División and scored one goal. In the three following seasons, 79 further premier league appearances for the Montevideans followed, in which he hit the opposing goal 26 times (2010/11: 28 games (6 goals); 2011/12: 29 (5); 2012/13 : 22 ( 15)). With 15 goals this season in his last season with the Wanderers, he finished second on the list of goalscorers behind Juan Manuel Olivera, level with Liber Quiñones . In May 2013 he left Uruguay for Brazil , where he joined Grêmio Porto Alegre . At the club from the state of Rio Grande do Sul , he completed 33 league games (22 in Série A , 11 in Gaucho 1) and scored six goals (five in Serie A, one in Gaucho 1). He was also used six times (no goal) in the Copa Libertadores and once (no goal) in the Copa do Brasil . In August 2014 he was loaned to Vasco da Gama . There he ran 19 times in the Série B and scored two hits. Since the beginning of 2015 he has continued his career as part of another loan deal at CF Universidad de Chile . He played twelve top division games (two goals) and five games (no goal) in the 2015 Copa Libertadores . He then returned to Grêmio in Porto Alegre in mid-June 2015 . Since then he has been used by the Brazilians nine times (one goal) in Serie A and twice (no goal) in the Copa do Brasil. Another change on loan followed in January 2016. This time the receiving club was Club Atlético Peñarol , which secured a percentage of the transfer rights for the player. Rodríguez signed for a year. In the 2016 Clausura he played 14 first division games (four goals) and two matches (no goal) in the Copa Libertadores 2016 for the “Aurinegros” . His team became Uruguayan champions in the 2015/16 season. He was not used in the 2016 season. At the beginning of 2017 he returned to Grêmio. Since then (as of July 29, 2017) he has played two games (no goal) in the Primeira Liga and two games (no goal) in the Campeonato Gaucho for the club from Porto Alegre .

National team

Rodríguez belonged to the Pan America selection (U-22) of Uruguay and took part with this in the Pan American Games 2011 in Mexico . There he won the bronze medal with the team and contributed to it with five international appearances (one goal).
