The house at Maxstrasse 21

The house at Marktstrasse 21 (formerly house number 229) is a listed building in the core town of Iphofen in Lower Franconia .

history

The house at the transition between the old town and the so-called Gräbenviertel was built after the Thirty Years War at the end of the 17th and beginning of the 18th century. The old town was largely destroyed during the war and many farms lay fallow. Foreign craftsmen pushed ahead with the reconstruction. The house in Maxstraße probably goes back to a carpenter who had already designed the Gasthaus zur Goldenen Sonne on the town's market square .

The design of the facade with the emphasis on its central part even refers to influences from the rulers who followed in the north. Similar designs can be found in Königsberg in Bavaria , which formerly belonged to the Saxon dukes . The house at Maxstraße 21 is classified as a historical building by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation. Underground remains of previous buildings are noted as ground monuments . It is also part of the Iphofen Old Town ensemble .

description

The house at Maxstraße 21 presents itself as a two-story hipped roof building with a half-timbered upper floor . It is a corner house that was provided with a rectangular extension. The upper floor has some peculiarities in the construction of the framework. The clear division into a wide middle section with an intermediate stand and two side sections can be seen . Male figures emphasize the middle section, which is characterized as a room part. The typical Saxon-Thuringian male figures have shorter legs than their Franconian counterparts.

The windows have been preserved in their original arrangement and are also in their original size. The equidistant distances between the individual windows are particularly typical. The interior structure with a wall division parallel to the ridge in the rear third and the arrangement of chamber-parlor-chamber in the front part can be seen on the exterior design. The interior could be oriented towards some of the houses along the Haßfurter Hauptstrasse.
